Medium Bed Mortar – Pro Full Contact 907
Latex-Modified – EGP
Product Description
Pro Full Contact 907 is specifically formulated to provide a single-step installation method for large format ceramic tile and stone. It fully supports heavy tiles and stone, reducing lippage problems and the need for leveling or pre-floating rough surfaces.
Pro Full Contact 907 can be built up to 3/4″ (19 mm) without shrinkage or extended set times.
Pro Full Contact 907virtually eliminates lippage by effectively supporting large, heavy units on the floor.
Pro Full Contact 907’s non-sag properties hold large stone in place in demanding vertical installations. It has excellent impact resistance, is water cleanable, nonflammable and requires no tile pre-soaking.
Pro Full Contact 907 is not affected by prolonged contact with water, but it does not form a waterproof barrier.
Pro Full Contact 907 is used as a setting bed from 3/32″ to 3/4″ (2.4 to 19 mm) after the tiles have been properly embedded.
Areas of Use
PRO FULL CONTACT 907 is formulated to hold large tile and marble units in place on vertical surfaces and limit settling on floors.
Suitable backings, when properly prepared, include plumb and true masonry, concrete, mortar beds, cement backerboards, Portland cement plaster, drywall (dry areas), existing ceramic tile, exterior grade plywood (interior dry areas), sheet vinyl flooring, VCT or plastic laminates.
Bonds gauged or ungauged natural stone, vitreous, semi-vitreous or absorptive tile including ceramic, quarry, pavers, cement, porcelain, terrazzo. For interior or exterior floors, walls or countertops.
Limitations
PRO FULL CONTACT 907 must not be used directly over asphalt sheeting, vinyl covered wallboard, Masonite®, cement asbestos board, metal, glass, plastic, luan plywood or gypsum mortars. Improperly cured or wet plywood, particle board or stripwood surfaces, or OSB panels are not considered suitable substrates.
When used to install tile in an area that will be continually wet (e.g. swimming pools, gang showers, etc.) it is recommended that the complete installation shall be cured a minimum of 14 days and allowed to thoroughly dry before exposure to water.
Tile or marble with a surface area of 1 sq. ft. (30 cm2) or less shall not exceed 5 lbs. per 1 sq. ft. (2.27 kg per 30 cm2).
Apply in a temperature range of 50°F to 100°F (10°C to 38°C).
Do not allow mortar to freeze for the first 72 hours. Not recommended for setting green, black or resin-backed marble.
Use COLORSET EPOXY 931.
Applicable Standard
Conforms to requirements for latex Portland cement mortars found in ANSI A108.5, A118.4 and A118.11.
Packaging
50 lb. (22.7 kg) bags.
INSTALLATION
Preparatorny Work
Detailed installation procedures may be found in the TCA Handbook and ANSI A108.5.
Surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dirt, curing compounds, sealers, adhesives or any other contaminant that would prevent a good bond.
Glossy or painted surfaces must be sanded, stripped and cleaned of waxes, dirtor any contaminants.
Concrete or plaster must be fully cured (28 days minimum) and accept water penetration. Concrete must be free of efflorescence and not subject to hydrostatic pressure.
Concrete slabs should have a broomed or brushed finish to enhance the bond. Plywood floors, including those under resilient flooring, must be built to industry standards. Deflection should not exceed L/360. Smooth concrete surfaces, existing glazed tile, terrazzo, or polished stone should be roughened or scarified.
Sheet vinyl must be well bonded and stripped of old finish. Roughen the surface by sanding or scarifying, rinse and allow to dry. Expansion joints should never be bridged with setting material.
Do not sand flooring materials containing asbestos.
Ambient temperature, surfaces and materials should be maintained at a temperature above 50°F (10°C) or below 100°F (38°C) for 72 hours.
Cementitious Substrates
Cleaning may be accomplished via mechanical sanding, scraping or chipping. Surfaces may be cleaned with ProClean (C-Clean 985) SULFAMIC ACID CRYSTALS (Sulfamic Acid) if thoroughly flushed and neutralized. (Use proper precautions.) Smooth, steel-troweled concrete surfaces must be roughened to ensure a good bond. It is advisable to dampen dry porous concrete before installing ceramic tile with PRO FULL CONTACT 907 mortar.
Do not leave puddles or standing water.
Non-Cementitious Substrates
Surfaces such as stripwood and old plaster or painted surfaces that provide bonding problems should be covered with a 3/8″ to 3/4″ (9.5 to 19 mm) reinforced mortar bed for walls and a 11⁄4″ (32 mm) reinforced mortar bed for floors.
After a minimum cure of 20 hours, PRO FULL CONTACT 907 can be applied to the mortar bed.
Plywood Substrates
PRO FULL CONTACT 907 may be used over properly prepared exterior grade plywood (EGP) on floors. All wood flooring, when placed over conventional floor joist or other systems, should be of a design and thickness so as to maintain a substrate deflection not to exceed 1/360 of the span, including live and dead load.
Further, the area to receive the PRO FULL CONTACT 907 should be exterior grade plywood only, secured with screw-type nails and glued where possible.
A gap of 3/16″ (4.8 mm) shall be left between sheets of plywood and between the plywood edges and all materials which they abut to allow for expansion.
These gaps shall remain empty when the installation is complete. In addition, all wooden surfaces must be for interior use only and protected from exposure to water. The maximum mortar thickness over plywood shall not exceed 1/4″ (6 mm).
Ceramic Tile Substrates
It is absolutely essential that the existing tile be well bonded. The surface must be prepared in accordance with the requirements for cementitious surfaces. It is also necessary to abrade the surface to assure proper bonding.
Expansion Joints
Expansion joints shall be installed in accordance with local building codes. See EJ171 in TCA Handbook for detailed specifications. Expansion joints, control joints and cold joints shall never be bridged with setting material.
Mixing
Thoroughly mix 6 quart (7.58 L) clean, cool water and 50 lb. (22.7 kg) of PRO FULL CONTACT 907 to a smooth, paste consistency.
Mix by hand or use a low speed (150 – 200 RPM) 1/2″ (13 mm) drill. Let slake or stand 5 – 10 minutes, stir again and use. Stir occasionally to keep fluffy, but do not add more water.
When properly mixed, troweled ridges will stand with no slump.
Application
INSTALLATION TO CONFORM TO ANSI A108.5.
When installing irregularly backed natural stone, pavers or large tile, use a 1/2″ x 1/2″ x 1/2″ (13 x 13 x 13 mm) square-notch or 3/4″ x 9/16″ x 3/8″ (19 x 14 x 9.5 mm) U-notch trowel. For all other installations use a 1/4″ x 3/8″ x 1/4″ (6 x 10 x 6 mm) square-notch trowel. Using flat side of trowel, apply skim coat of mortar.
Apply additional mortar with notch side of trowel held at a 45° angle to the surface, combing in one direction. Press tile firmly into place in a perpendicular motion across ridges, moving back and forth. Perpendicular pressing flattens ridges and closes valleys allowing maximum coverage.
With some tile, back-buttering is advisable. Adjust tile promptly and beat in with block and rubber mallet. Periodically pull up a tile and check the back to ensure complete coverage with the mortar.
Do not spread more material than can be tiled in 15 minutes, or while material has wet tack (sticky to the touch). If material has skinned over (not sticky), recomb with notch trowel, if too dry, remove and replace with fresh material. Material in bucket will remain workable in excess of 2 hours.
NOTE: As a practical test, it is recommended that a minimum of three (3) or more separate 12 inch square (.3 m2) areas of tile be bonded to the properly prepared surface with the actual tile and bonding material that will be used on the finished installation. These should be allowed to cure for three (3) to seven (7) days and then removed with a hammer and chisel. At this point, one can determine if adequate bond has been obtained or if a problem exists.
Cleaning
Water is all that is needed to remove uncured mortar.
Curing and Grouting
A minimum cure is obtained in 24 hours, depending on ambient temperatures.
Normal grouting should be done 48 hours after tile has been set.

I noticed something too about this topic on another blog.Amazingly, your linear perspective onto it is diametrically opposite to what I just read before. May I post part of this on my page if I post a mention of the this site?
