Restoration of a 100-Year-Old Marble Floor

This project demonstrates the restoration of a historic marble floor that was nearly 100 years old. Years of use had left the surface with deep scratches, etching, stains, gouges, uneven tile edges, and significant wear throughout the installation.
To make the project even more challenging, black granite inserts were installed throughout the floor. Because marble and granite have different hardness levels and polishing characteristics, achieving a consistent finish across both materials can be difficult using traditional restoration methods.
Using the Cheetah Pad restoration process followed by final polishing, the floor was restored to an exceptional level of clarity and reflectivity while preserving the original stone.

The completed floor demonstrates how proper restoration techniques can dramatically improve the appearance of historic stone surfaces while extending their service life.
Natural stone surfaces such as marble, travertine, limestone, terrazzo, and polished concrete can often be restored instead of replaced, helping preserve the original material while reducing renovation costs.
