StringA-Level™ Tile Support System for Shower Wall Tile Installation
The StringA-Level™ Tile Support System is a reusable tile installation tool designed to help contractors and DIY installers create straight, level, and professional-looking shower wall tile installations. Whether you're building a standard shower, custom shower enclosure, curved wall, or complex tile layout, StringA-Level provides a reliable support shelf for starting wall tile installations above the shower floor.
Unlike traditional wood ledger boards and temporary stringers that often require additional measuring, shimming, and adjustments, StringA-Level creates a consistent level reference point that helps simplify wall tile layout while improving installation accuracy.
Why Use StringA-Level?
Starting the first course of wall tile correctly is one of the most important steps in any shower installation. If the first row is not perfectly level, the entire wall installation can become difficult to maintain, resulting in uneven grout joints, alignment issues, and additional labor.
StringA-Level was designed specifically to eliminate these common challenges. The system uses reusable interlocking sections equipped with integrated level vials that create a continuous support shelf for wall tile installations.
Benefits include:
- Creates a straight and level starting point for wall tile
- Works with standard and custom shower layouts
- Reusable for multiple projects
- Suitable for curved walls, corners, and radius installations
- Faster setup than traditional wood ledger boards
- Improves tile layout accuracy
- Compatible with residential and commercial tile projects
StringA-Level Flexible Section

The Flexible Section is designed for curved walls, inside corners, outside corners, and radius transitions. Four integrated living hinges allow the section to conform to a variety of installation conditions while maintaining level alignment.
Each end includes a built-in level vial to simplify alignment around corners and transitions. Flexible sections can connect directly to other flexible sections or to rigid sections for complete layout flexibility.

How to Install StringA-Level
Step 1: Plan Your Layout
Determine how the StringA-Level sections will fit your shower design, including corners, curves, straight walls, and transitions between sections.

Step 2: Mark Your Reference Line
Establish the desired starting point for your wall tile layout and mark the installation height.

Step 3: Attach the First Section
Secure the first section using appropriate backer board or drywall screws. Washers are recommended to help protect the mounting slots from damage.
Do not overtighten screws. The section only needs to be snug against the wall surface.

Step 4: Add Additional Sections
Continue attaching additional rigid or flexible sections as needed. Sections can interlock where appropriate, but interlocking is not required for proper operation.

Step 5: Install Wall Tile
Once the support shelf is secured and level, begin installing the first course of wall tile.

Step 6: Remove and Reuse
After the tile has properly cured, remove the sections, clean any remaining mortar residue, and store them for future projects.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to purchase individual sections?
StringA-Level is available in both complete kits and individual components. Standard and contractor kits are available depending on project size and installation requirements.
Why are washers recommended?
Washers help prevent mounting slot wear that can occur when certain backer board screws are repeatedly tightened directly against the plastic sections.
What if the sections do not fit my layout perfectly?
Sections do not need to interlock continuously. Individual sections can be used independently around outside corners, transitions, and other unique installation conditions without sacrificing performance.
Whether you're installing tile in a standard shower, custom walk-in shower, steam shower, or curved wall application, the StringA-Level™ Tile Support System provides a simple and effective solution for creating accurate, professional-quality tile layouts.
