If you are adding Extra Temp Sensors, run both sensors from the control box to the floor below and then weave them into the mat 6 to 12 inches from the wall. You can put them side by side, but connect only one to the thermostatic control. If you ever need to replace a faulty sensor, you’ll have one at your fingertips

Backup in Case of Failure
Floor heating sensors are embedded under the tile and cannot be replaced without damaging the floor. Adding a second sensor gives you a spare already installed and ready to connect if the first one fails.

Extended System Lifespan
Since the sensor is one of the most vulnerable parts of an electric radiant heating system, having a backup ensures your system won’t become unusable if the primary sensor stops working.

Flexibility During Installation
If one sensor ends up in a slightly less optimal spot (too close to heating wires, under furniture, or in a colder area), you have the option to switch to the second sensor for more accurate floor temperature readings.

Peace of Mind
Installing a second sensor is inexpensive compared to the labor and cost of tearing up tile later. It provides insurance against future issues.

Compatibility with Most Thermostats
Most modern floor heating thermostats allow only one sensor to be connected at a time, but you can cap off the second one in the wall box. If the first fails, you just swap the connection.
