Important Natural Stone Information

Due to the porous characteristics of natural stone, sealing is always recommended before and after grouting. Proper sealing helps reduce staining and simplifies long-term maintenance and cleaning.

Installation Instructions

Recommended Substrates:

• Properly cured mortar beds - ANSI A108.1B (cured minimum 7 days)
• Cementitious backer units (CBU) - ANSI A118.9
• Concrete slabs cured for minimum 28 days
• Gypsum board for dry areas only - ASTM C1396
• An ANSI A108A-2.1.8 membrane is required behind CBU installations in wet areas
• All glass, foil-backed glass, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, resin metal, and blended element products must be installed a minimum of 8" away from naked flame

Setting Materials & Methods:

Setting material requirements will vary depending on substrate type and installation conditions.

• Always use setting materials that meet or exceed TCNA guidelines
• Consult your tile and stone dealer for recommended setting materials
• Installation methods should conform to TCNA guidelines
• Professional installation by an experienced tile contractor is recommended

Grout Selection Note:

Stone Mosaic Care & Maintenance

• Seal stone mosaics prior to grouting
• Use only pH-neutral cleaners safe for natural stone
• Do not use acidic cleaners containing lemon, vinegar, or harsh chemicals
• Use a soft cloth or sponge for regular cleaning
• Resealing throughout the life of the installation is recommended

Using an enhancing sealer will darken the appearance of the stone.

We recommend sealing with a penetrating sealer prior to installation.

Because this product is made from genuine natural stone, variation in shade, veining, color movement, pits, and texture is expected and is considered a natural characteristic of the material.
