Important Natural Stone Information
Because marble is a natural stone product, variations in color, veining, shade, and texture are expected and are considered part of the material’s natural beauty.
Sealing natural stone before and after grouting is strongly recommended to help protect against staining and simplify long-term maintenance.
Using an enhancing sealer will darken and enrich the color of the stone.
Installation Guidelines
Recommended Substrates
- Properly cured mortar beds meeting ANSI A108.1B standards
- Cementitious backer units (CBU) meeting ANSI A118.9
- Concrete slabs cured for a minimum of 28 days
- Gypsum board in dry interior applications only
- Waterproof membrane recommended behind CBU installations in wet areas
Installation Notes
- Use setting materials that meet or exceed current TCNA guidelines
- Consult your tile professional for compatible thinset and grout products
- Professional installation is recommended
- Products containing metal, glass, or resin components should be installed at least 8 inches away from open flame or direct heat sources
Grout Compatibility Notice
Some sanded and urethane grouts containing micro glass bead additives may scratch honed or polished marble surfaces. Always test grout compatibility before full installation. Flooring Supply Shop is not responsible for damage caused by improper installation materials or methods.
Care & Maintenance
- Seal marble mosaics prior to grouting
- Use only pH-neutral cleaners designed for natural stone
- Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners containing vinegar, lemon, bleach, or harsh chemicals
- Clean routinely with a soft cloth or sponge
- Periodic resealing is recommended to maintain protection and appearance
