Ideal for larger shower benches and open-span installations, the BT-17S helps reinforce bench applications where extra support is required.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant alloyed aluminum, the BT-17S installs quickly and integrates seamlessly into tiled shower walls, steam showers, wet rooms, and custom bathroom remodels. This support system is commonly used with the Better Bench ADJR Adjustable Bench and BB-BR26 bench installations where additional center support is necessary.

The BT-17S creates a clean professional appearance while maintaining the floating bench design homeowners and contractors prefer in modern bathroom and shower installations.

Support Requirement Guidelines

For BB-BR26 Bench Installations

• Three-wall installations do not require additional support
• Two-wall installations with one open side require one BT-17S or one Invisabolt support
• Free-floating installations require Invisabolt supports with structural blocking

For ADJR Adjustable Bench Installations

• Wall-to-wall installations up to 36" require no additional support
• Wall-to-wall installations up to 63" require one centered BT-17S or two Invisabolt supports
• Back wall and one side wall installations may require BT-17S or Invisabolt supports depending on span
• Open span installations require multiple Invisabolt supports based on overall bench length

Installation Notes

The BT-17S installs using the supplied mounting hardware and is designed to integrate directly into the tiled shower bench system. Fill with dry pack mortar before applying tile.

Important: Do not use thin-set mortar as the fill material. A dry pack mortar mixture using approximately 4 parts sand to 1 part cement is recommended.

Foam board installations require a minimum 2x4 wood backing at all support connection locations. When using Invisabolt support systems, minimum 4x6 structural blocking must be installed flush with the stud face before wall substrate installation.

Waterproof Performance

The BT-17S is designed for wet area installations without requiring additional waterproofing membranes. Proper sealing around fastener penetrations and wall connections is recommended during installation.
