Negligible shrinkage at extreme temperatures combined with low water vapor permeability makes Composeal Gray Gold especially well suited for radiant heated flooring systems and steam-cleaned floor applications.

Sound Control Capability

Composeal Gray Gold provides exceptional sound reduction performance in above-grade tile installations while adding less than 1/8 in. to 1/4 in. to the overall installation thickness and less than 1/3 lb. per square foot to the finished assembly.

Crack suppression, direct bond capability, and waterproofing performance are equal to or better than the proven performance record of Composeal Gold Crack Isolation Waterproof Membranes.

Crack Suppression Capability

Independent laboratory testing supervised by the Ceramic Tile Institute of Los Angeles and conducted using the Robinson Floor Tester confirmed the membrane's ability to help protect properly installed tile systems from common substrate cracks and movement found in residential and commercial construction.

Waterproofing Capability

The waterproof membrane core is based on proven Composeal shower pan liner technology and provides dependable moisture protection beneath tile and stone installations. This waterproof barrier helps prevent water migration and protects surrounding building materials from moisture-related damage.

Limitations

When Composeal Gray Gold is used for both sound control and waterproofing, such as in showers, bathrooms, and kitchens, it should not be bonded directly to materials adversely affected by water. Plywood substrates must be covered with cementitious backer board or an approved reinforced mortar bed before installation.

Composeal Gray Gold should not be used with asphalt-based or bituminous products.

Warranty Information

Composeal membranes are warranted against material failure. In the event of a membrane defect, replacement material will be supplied at no charge. Warranty coverage applies only to the membrane itself and does not extend to installation methods, consequential damages, or conditions beyond the manufacturer's control. Under normal conditions, Composeal membranes are designed to last for the life of the building.
