Installation Guide

Review

For the smaller Spot Warming mats, we recommend the SunStat control.

This device uses a floor sensor to maintain the precise temperature you select for your tile.

You can pick a normal setting or push a button to select a “setback” or night time usage to ensure your floor tiles stay warm. Each radiant floor heating mat control includes a built-in GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for your safety

Dual Voltage for both 120 VAC and 240 VAC

The non-programmable FloorStat is very simple to operate. Simply slide the on/off switch and turn the dial to set the floor temperature. Other features include a floor sensor that directly senses floor temperature; built-in ground

fault protection with no need for a separate GFCI (in most code areas); temperature range of 59° to 95°F; 15-amp

capacity to control up to 150 sq. ft. of 120-VAC SunTouch mats. Available only in 120 VAC model.

Features include a floor sensor that directly senses floor temperature, 15-amp capacity controlling up to 150 sq. ft. of 120-VAC mats or 300 sq. ft. of 240-VAC mats; built-in ground fault protection with no need for a separate GFCI (in most code areas) large, back-lit digital display
temperature range of 40° to 104°F.

Temperature display in °F or °C; on/off switch; 12 or 24-hr. clock.

Installation Guidelines

Turn off power to the heating system at the main power panel to avoid electrical shock.

Keep the SunStat’s air vents clean and free from obstructions. Installation should be carried out by electricians or experienced technicians.

• High voltage SunStat must be installed onto an electrical box.
• For a new installation, choose a location about 5 ft. (approximately 1.5 meters) above the floor, with good air circulation.
• The SunStat must be installed facing the heating system.
• The SunrStat must be installed on an inside wall.

• Avoid locations where there are air drafts (top of staircase, air outlet), dead air spots (behind a door), direct sunlight or concealed chimneys or stove pipes.

Installation Steps

The GFCI monitors electricity flow for any loss of current; if there is, the
SunStat immediately cuts power to the heating system.

We recommend
you test the GFCI right after installing the control module, and once a
month thereafter to ensure it is operating properly.

To test

1. Press the TEST button:

• Successful: Test warning light is ON and power to heating system is cut-off.

• Unsuccessful: Test warning light is OFF. Cut power to heating system from the main
power panel and call technical service.

2. When successful, reset FloorStat (On/Standby)to power the heating system.

NOTE: If the warning light comes on during normal operation, cut power to heating system from the main power panel and have an electrician verify the installation.

If a mat or cable system requires more than 15 amps, we recommend installing SunStat Relays.

SunTouch’s new SunStat™ Relays System is specially designed for large floor heating applications exceeding 15 amps. Here’s how it works:

Relays connect directly to SunStat thermostats for simple, elegant control of larger system.

SunStat Relays don’t require a special “master thermostat”, as before with the older version, this new Relays are dual voltage 120 VAC or 240 VAC, have a 15-amp capacity, and on/off switch and GFCI and test light.

It’s possible to control over 1500 sq. ft. of electric floor warming using 120 VAC and cover 3,000 VAC sq. ft floor warming mats or cables.

SunStat Relay

• Programmable and Non-programmable models available
• Controls up to 10 slave units (120vac & 240vac)
• Low voltage wiring means SunStat Relay can be installed anywhere
• Silent operation

The new SunStat™ Relays System is specially designed for large floor heating applications exceeding 15 amps. Here’s how it works:

First, find the amp draw for each SunStat, UnderFloor or Warm Wire product on our web site, or on our more information section, then determine how many can connect to each relay. Up to ten 15-amp Relays can connect to one SunStat.

Ten Relays. Plus the internal relay in the SunStat, provide a total capacity of 165 amps! Each Relay should be connected to individual 20 amp breakers, as shown in this page picture
