SunTouch® WarmWire New Strap
By SunTouch® A division of Watts Water Technologies, Inc.
Product Details
The new WarmWire Strap has improved.
Some of the new features include:
– Two rows of tabs: each row is off-set at right angles from each other allowing for easier installation for the various wire spacing.
– Longer, narrower tabs: more flexible tabs better accommodate larger wire sizes.
– Wider strap: increased from 3/4” wide to 1-1/8” wide provides a flatter installation.
– New installation methods: use the standard screw as with the older strap or use 3M’s type 90 spray adhesive for secure attachment to hard surfaces such as concrete.
Installation
Unroll the Strap, cut it to the required length, and install. Secure the WarmWire cable to the strap at the necessary spacing.
Make sure to fold the tabs securely over the wire.
The strap is designed with directional tabs to allow complete securement of the cables so they will not come loose during installation.
“Vertical” tabs should point toward the wall, away from the heated area, allowing the cables to always pull against the tab as shown in the photos.
In the case of a long room or in areas where the cable may be ran a long distance, install the Strap at either end of the room/run and lay all of the cable.
If additional support is needed, cut a section of Strap and slide it upside-down underneath the cables (preventing the tabs from catching on the cable), flip it over, and secure.
Connect the cable using the “horizontal” tabs. If the mid-run Strap is installed before the cable, a “zig-zag” pattern may form, making it harder to maintain proper wire spacing.
Strap Attachment Methods
– Plywood/Backer boards or similar: Screws, nails or staples may be used to secure the Strap to the substrate.
– Concrete/Thin Slabs or similar: A spray-on adhesive, such as 3M’s type 90, may be used.
Galvanized self-tapping masonry screws may be used in addition to the adhesive, placed at either end of the Strap, to help hold the Strap in place while the adhesive cures.
Spray Adhesive
Spray the back side of the strap thoroughly with the adhesive, attach and let cure for a minimum of 30 minutes, or per manufacture’s recommendation.
Place a screw at each end of the strap, if necessary.
Screws
Using galvanized self-tapping masonry screws, secure the Strap every 6-10 inches. Make sure the Strap does not lift or bend. If it does, add additional screws.
If necessary, the new style of Strap can be used in conjunction with the current style
to help prevent product waste.
However, the older style may be more difficult to use with larger wire configurations.
