SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain Installation Guide
SereneDrains Wall Linear Drains are designed to install along the shower wall, providing a clean, low-profile drainage solution with a removable tile insert that coordinates with the surrounding shower floor.
This installation guide explains the general installation of the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain, including drain positioning, waste pipe connection, drain support, shower waterproofing, floor slope, tile installation, removable tile insert installation, grouting, and final inspection.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Read all installation instructions before starting. Installation should be performed by a qualified professional familiar with plumbing, shower waterproofing, mortar, and tile installation.
Always follow applicable local plumbing and building codes, as well as the installation requirements provided by the manufacturers of the waterproofing system, thin-set mortar, tile, grout, and other installation materials being used.

The flexible PVC coupling supplied with the drain is used to connect the drain outlet to the shower waste pipe when compatible with the installed plumbing connection. The supplied stainless steel hose clamps secure the coupling at both connection points.
STEP 1: PREPARE THE SHOWER AREA
Prepare the shower wall and floor structure for installation of the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain. The drain is designed to be installed along the shower wall with the drain body positioned at the planned finished wall location.
Before beginning, confirm the drain model, overall dimensions, drain location, finished floor height, wall construction, waste pipe location, and required installation space.
Make sure the shower structure is suitable to support the drain and the finished tile assembly. The drain must be properly supported and secured so it cannot move during the remainder of the installation.
STEP 2: CONFIRM THE DRAIN LOCATION AND DIMENSIONS
Position the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain along the shower wall and verify that the drain fits the planned installation location.
Check the overall drain length, visible drain length, drain height, drain width, and center outlet position before permanently securing the drain.
Allow sufficient space behind and below the drain for the waste pipe connection and the shower floor assembly.
Verify that the center outlet is properly aligned with the planned waste pipe connection.
Important: All product dimensions are nominal. Verify actual measurements at the job site before cutting or constructing the surrounding shower assembly.
STEP 3: POSITION AND SUPPORT THE DRAIN
Place the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain in its final position against the shower wall structure.
Use the mounting flange and appropriate installation methods to securely support the drain body. The drain must remain stable and properly supported throughout waterproofing, mortar installation, and tile installation.
Check the drain carefully to make sure it is level from end to end and positioned at the correct finished elevation.
Set the drain height so the removable tile insert and surrounding finished shower floor tile will align properly with the intended finished floor surface.
STEP 4: CONNECT THE DRAIN TO THE WASTE PIPE
Connect the center drain outlet to the shower waste pipe using the flexible PVC coupling supplied with the drain, provided the coupling is compatible with the installed waste pipe.
Position the coupling fully over the drain outlet and the waste pipe. Install one stainless steel hose clamp at each end of the coupling.
Tighten both clamps securely so the coupling remains firmly positioned on the drain outlet and waste pipe.
Make sure the drain outlet and waste pipe are properly aligned and supported. The plumbing connection should not place unnecessary stress or movement on the drain body.
STEP 5: TEST THE DRAIN CONNECTION
Before covering the plumbing connection, inspect the flexible coupling and both stainless steel hose clamps to make sure they are properly positioned and securely tightened.
Perform an appropriate water test of the plumbing connection as required by local plumbing requirements and standard installation practices.
Check carefully for signs of leakage before continuing with the shower floor and wall assembly.
STEP 6: COMPLETE THE SHOWER WATERPROOFING
The SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain is installed as part of the overall shower assembly. Waterproofing should be completed as part of the normal shower waterproofing installation and properly integrated with the drain and surrounding shower floor and walls.
Use the waterproofing system selected for the shower and follow that manufacturer's installation instructions for preparing and waterproofing the walls, floor, corners, seams, transitions, and areas surrounding the drain.
SereneDrains does not require a specific waterproofing membrane or waterproofing product. The tile installer is responsible for properly integrating the drain into the waterproofing system being used for the shower.
Complete all required waterproofing details before installing the finished tile.
STEP 7: CREATE THE SHOWER FLOOR SLOPE
Construct the shower floor so the finished surface slopes continuously toward the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain.
Maintain the minimum slope required by applicable local codes and the waterproofing system being used. A slope of approximately 1/4 inch per foot is commonly used for shower floors where permitted by local requirements.
The finished shower floor should provide continuous drainage toward the wall drain without low spots or areas where water can collect away from the drain.
STEP 8: INSTALL THE SURROUNDING SHOWER TILE
Install the shower floor and wall tile using the appropriate thin-set mortar and installation method for the selected tile and waterproofing system.
Carefully cut and position the tile around the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain. Maintain clean and consistent joints between the surrounding tile and drain assembly.
Verify the finished floor slope as tile installation progresses so water continues to flow toward the drain.
Protect the drain from construction debris, excess mortar, and grout during tile installation.
STEP 9: INSTALL TILE INTO THE REMOVABLE INSERT
The SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain includes a removable tile insert designed to receive tile so the finished drain surface coordinates with the surrounding shower floor.
Remove the tile insert from the drain before installing tile into the insert.
Measure and carefully cut the selected tile to fit inside the insert. Dry-fit the tile before applying setting material to confirm the dimensions, orientation, and finished height are correct.
Apply the appropriate thin-set mortar and install the tile inside the removable insert according to standard tile installation practices and the thin-set manufacturer's instructions.
Make sure the finished tile surface is properly positioned within the insert and does not interfere with the drainage path.
Allow the setting material to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions before placing the insert back into the drain.
STEP 10: INSTALL THE TILE INSERT AND COMPLETE GROUTING
After the tile and setting material have properly cured, carefully place the finished removable tile insert into the SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain.
Verify that the insert is seated properly and that it can be removed when access to the drain channel is required for cleaning and maintenance.
Complete the surrounding grout installation according to the grout manufacturer's instructions. Clean excess grout and construction residue from the tile and drain area.
Do not allow grout, mortar, or other construction materials to block the drainage path.
FINAL INSPECTION
Before placing the shower into service, inspect the completed installation.
- Verify that the drain is securely supported and remains level.
- Verify that the waste pipe connection and supplied coupling are secure.
- Verify that both stainless steel hose clamps are properly tightened.
- Verify that the shower waterproofing has been completed according to the waterproofing system manufacturer's instructions.
- Verify that the shower floor has the required slope toward the drain.
- Verify that the surrounding tile is properly installed and aligned.
- Verify that the removable tile insert is properly seated.
- Verify that the drainage path is clear of mortar, grout, and construction debris.
- Run water through the completed shower and confirm that water flows freely toward and into the wall drain.
INSTALLATION COMPLETE
The SereneDrains Wall Linear Drain installation is complete once the drain is securely positioned and supported, the supplied flexible PVC coupling is properly connected to the compatible waste pipe, the shower waterproofing has been completed as part of the overall shower assembly, the shower floor has the required slope, and the tile and removable tile insert have been properly installed.
Allow all setting materials, grout, sealants, and other installation products to fully cure according to their manufacturers' instructions before placing the shower into service.
