Re-Bond Hollow or Loose Tiles Without Removing Them

Uni Bond Tile Repair Glue is designed to re-adhere tiles when a loss of bond has occurred. Its unique elastomeric qualities provide a solid bond while allowing limited deflection, which can be a contributing cause of tile bond failure.

Uni Bond provides a practical repair method for tiles with hollow areas beneath them. Instead of removing and replacing the tile, the adhesive is injected through small holes drilled into the grout joint and distributed beneath the tile. This can help save time and money while eliminating many tile matching problems associated with replacement.

Application Limitations

Uni Bond is limited to tiles installed over properly prepared concrete substrates or exterior-grade plywood. For interior applications only.

How to Repair Hollow or Loose Tiles

1. Establish which tiles have hollow areas underneath by tapping the tile lightly with a rubber mallet.
2. Using a 1/8" masonry drill bit, drill into the grout joint. Drill slightly deeper than the depth of the tile. Use 4-8 holes per tile and take care not to drill into the tile.
3. Use a shop vacuum to remove loose debris from the holes and surrounding area.
4. Shake Uni Bond well and attach the tip before inserting the cartridge into a caulking gun. Place the nozzle directly into a drilled hole and inject with light pressure. Begin tapping the tile with the rubber mallet while moving the caulking gun to the other holes in the tile until Uni Bond begins to come up through the other holes.
5. Immediately clean any excess material with a sponge and water.
6. Carefully place a weighted bucket of water on the reset tiles and allow a minimum of 24 hours for curing.
7. Fill the drilled holes with matching caulking or the original grout color.
