The Recess-It Floating Shelf by Innovis is a tile ready recessed shelf support designed for use with Recess-It shower niche systems. This floating shelf creates additional built-in shower storage while maintaining a clean, seamless appearance inside tiled shower walls, steam showers, and bathroom niche installations.
Compatible with Recess-It 14 x 14, 14 x 18, and 14 x 22 shower niches, the Floating Shelf allows installers to create reinforced tiled shelving for shampoo bottles, soap, razors, and shower accessories without disrupting tile layouts.
The shelf is manufactured from corrosion-resistant alloyed aluminum with a waterproofing and anti-fracture coating combined with an aggregate bonding surface for excellent thin-set adhesion and long-term durability in wet environments.

How the Floating Shelf Works
The Floating Shelf is a thin perforated aluminum reinforcing shelf designed to integrate directly within the grout joints of the tile layout inside the Recess-It niche. Once tiled and grouted, the shelf creates a reinforced tiled support surface for additional shower storage.
The perforated design allows thin-set mortar and grout to bond through the shelf structure, helping create a strong integrated tiled shelf system.
Flexible Tile Layout Installation
The Floating Shelf is designed to align with existing grout joints inside the niche, helping installers avoid difficult tile cuts and complicated layout adjustments. The shelf may also be trimmed to fit custom installations when necessary.
It may even be used vertically inside smaller Recess-It niches to create integrated foot rests or shaving ledges for tiled shower installations.
Waterproof Performance
Recess-It products feature a structural aluminum shell combined with a waterproof elastomeric coating designed to help prevent moisture penetration behind shower walls. The positive slope design helps direct moisture away from wall cavities and reduce the risk of mold or mildew buildup.
The integrated waterproof flange creates a waterproof transition between the niche and surrounding tile substrate when installed correctly with a bead of caulk behind the mounting flange.
Installation Notes
The waterproof flange thickness may slightly raise surrounding tile surfaces if not feathered properly. Installers may feather surrounding thin-set mortar around the perimeter or recess cementitious substrates slightly for a flush tile appearance.
The Recess-It aluminum shell is structural and may be installed with or without additional wood blocking depending on installation preference.
