Designed for use with ceramic tile, porcelain tile, marble, granite, and natural stone, the Recess-It niche installs quickly using the supplied wall fasteners and does not require complicated framing or additional waterproofing membranes.

Installation Notes

The Recess-It niche is designed for fast installation over approved tile substrates and may be installed with or without wood blocking. A bead of caulk should be applied behind the mounting flange during installation to create a waterproof gasket between the niche and substrate.

The integrated waterproof flange may slightly raise the surrounding tile surface if not properly addressed. Installers may feather the surrounding thin-set or recess the substrate slightly to achieve a flush tile installation.

The preset slope on the niche bottom is designed to help direct moisture away from the wall cavity and reduce the risk of mold or mildew development inside the niche.

Waterproof Performance

Recess-It niches feature a structural aluminum shell combined with a waterproof elastomeric coating to help prevent moisture penetration. The positive slope design and non-organic materials help reduce moisture retention and eliminate direct wood-to-unit contact inside the wall cavity.

Floating Shelf Compatible

The optional Floating Shelf accessory allows installers to add reinforced tiled shelving inside the niche for additional shower storage. The perforated aluminum shelf integrates within tile grout joints for a clean custom appearance.
