I Love my Serene Steam Spa way more than I ever imagined! Besides relaxation, Serene Steam is the most amazing way to enjoy the health benefits of my essential oils. Having used essential oil diffusers, it's feels way more effective in my opinion when aromatherapy is delivered in a hot steamy environment. Plus there's many more benefits, and it's nice to know how green the product is in terms of being water wise. My favorite way to enjoy my Serene Steam is to put in my favorite oils, turn on the built in bluetooth speaker with my favorite iTunes. It's a great time to just relax and concentrate the steam on areas that need it most. Cupping my hands in front of the steam helps to divert more of it up to my face and it also feels amazing on my joints...Same for my knees or back. If I'm feeling tight I might sit or squat on the spa floor that came with it and concentrate the heat on my shoulders, low back, etc, gently and slowly stretch and twist to wring out tight or achy muscles. Not a fan of hot yoga and yet I thoroughly enjoy my Serene Steam. It's the perfect amount of heat and moisture, delivered in a relaxing spa like environment. I recommend you bring a timer in with you because it's easy to loose track of time. Speaking of water wise...Serene Steam has helped me cut down on water use. I shower first, wash my hair, then put a deep conditioning mask in my hair and turn off the shower and turn on the Serene Steam. While steaming, that conditioner is making my hair extra soft and there are other spa like treatments you can do at home. I use a special dry brush to slough off dead skin, then use a pumice stone or other foot tools to take off callouses, shave my legs, do facial masks, etc. (hint: It helps if you bring in a small pail and fill with shower water to rinse your razor ;-) Yeah I'm a multi tasker...So that 10 minute steam is accomplishing a lot! When I'm all done another quick rinse in the shower and take off the conditioner and my hair looks as healthy as when I've just came back from the salon. The Spa version worked best for my situation because it went right into the existing shower enclosure without having to remodel. I did pay to upgrade my old shower door (which was the cheapest quality builder version) to a nice frameless glass shower door and enclosed the whole opening so as to not let the steam escape. Because my shower is so tall, the Glass Guru who did the installed suggested I put in a normal sized door with a fixed piece of glass above, and a louvered piece of glass in between. That way the louver can be left open during normal showers to vent hot air, or not, your choice. The plumber that came to install my unit was shocked at how easy it was. His first remark was "where's the electricity?" and I said there is none. "What about the generator?" he said. Again I said, there is none. He was super surprised that all they had to do was tap into my hot water line with pex piping. Because this is a retrofit, pex was easier to maneuver in the existing wall behind the shower. They cut a small square to open the drywall on the back side of the shower. That way they only needed to make a tiny hole (about the diameter of the pex) in one tile on my shower wall to connect to the unit. Super simple and quick. I suggest you get your plumber to watch the install videos before they come out so they can bring the right materials. Also make sure they install the unit in the middle of the wall right under the faucet so you can have full access to it from either side and so steam is able to fill the entire space. If you're considering purchasing, hope this was helpful...Serene Steam is perfect anytime you just want to relax, feel better, sooth aching muscles and joints, and gain the health benefits of warm steamy aromatherapy....
