The Ebbe E116 Subfloor Recess Kit provides a simple and cost-effective solution for lowering a subfloor between joists to create a barrier-free shower entry. Designed for curbless shower installations, the system allows contractors and DIY installers to recess the shower floor without modifying structural joists or installing complicated floor-lowering systems.

Designed for I-Joist Construction
The Ebbe Subfloor Recess Kit works particularly well with engineered I-joists because the brackets mount directly to the top flange of the joist. This design helps simplify installation while maintaining structural integrity.
Installation Guidelines
- Remove the existing subfloor as needed to expose joists and wall framing.
- Install joist and wall brackets with a maximum spacing of 36 inches on center.
- Use structural grade #2 or better Douglas Fir, Larch, or Pine for support framing.
- Create the recessed 2x4 framework and install into the bracket system.
- Secure the new subfloor using adhesive and screws.
- Use subfloor adhesive at hanger seats for maximum performance.
Load Requirements
Bracket spacing of up to 36 inches on center is designed to achieve L/360 deflection with a live load of 40 PSF and a dead load of 20 PSF when installed according to manufacturer recommendations.
