Programmable Floor Heating Control

The MatComfort 82F provides 7-day programmable scheduling, allowing a different heating schedule to be configured for each day of the week. Up to four programmed periods can be configured for each day.

The thermostat includes Comfort, Economy and Vacation temperature settings. These preset temperature levels can be assigned to the programmed schedule according to the way the room is used throughout the day.

Multiple Temperature Control Modes

The MatComfort 82F provides three temperature control modes. A mode controls the ambient air temperature using the thermostat's internal sensor. F mode controls the floor temperature using the external floor sensor. AF mode controls the ambient air temperature while using the external floor sensor to maintain the floor within the selected temperature limit.

These control options provide flexibility for different electric floor heating installations while allowing the thermostat to maintain the appropriate floor temperature for laminate and engineered wood flooring.

82°F Floor Temperature Limit

The MatComfort 82F is specifically designed for laminate and engineered wood floors. The thermostat limits the floor temperature to 82°F (28°C), helping prevent the floor heating system from exceeding the recommended temperature limit for these flooring materials.

The external floor temperature sensor monitors the floor temperature and allows the thermostat to maintain the configured temperature limit when the AF control mode is used.

Comfort, Economy and Vacation Settings

The MatComfort 82F includes three programmable temperature settings: Comfort, Economy and Vacation. Comfort is intended for periods when the room is occupied and floor heating is desired. Economy provides a reduced temperature for periods such as nighttime or when the room is not being used, while Vacation provides a lower temperature setting for extended periods away.

The factory default settings are 88°F (31°C) for Comfort, 74°F (23°C) for Economy, and 50°F (10°C) for Vacation when operating in floor-temperature control mode.

Early Start Function

The MatComfort 82F includes an Early Start function that can calculate when the heating system should begin operating in order to reach the programmed temperature at the scheduled time.

The thermostat evaluates previous heating performance and can begin heating in advance when necessary. The Early Start function can begin heating up to several hours before the programmed period depending on the heating system and previous performance.

Built-In Class A GFCI Protection

The MatComfort 82F includes Class A 5mA GFCI protection designed to help protect against electrical ground faults. The thermostat includes dedicated GFCI test and reset functions.

The GFCI protection monitors the electrical circuit and interrupts power to the heating system when a ground fault is detected. The GFCI should be tested after installation and according to the manufacturer's recommended testing schedule.

Memory Backup

The MatComfort 82F includes internal memory backup for the programmed schedule and clock. In the event of a power failure, the thermostat can maintain its programming and time. If the power failure exceeds approximately 6 hours, the clock may need to be reset.

Temperature Display and Controls

The thermostat provides a digital display for the current temperature and programmed settings. The display can be configured to show temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, and the time can be displayed using a 12-hour or 24-hour format.

The backlit display makes the thermostat easier to read, while the physical controls provide access to programming, temperature adjustment, operating modes, GFCI testing, and other thermostat functions.

Installation Information

The MatComfort 82F is designed for indoor installation with electric floor heating systems. The appropriate thermostat model must be selected according to the electrical supply and heating system requirements.

The NTG5110 is designed for 120VAC applications and the NTG5220 is designed for 240VAC applications. The connected heating load must not exceed the thermostat's 15A maximum resistive load.

The external floor sensor should be installed in a representative heated area and positioned according to the manufacturer's installation instructions. The sensor should not cross or be placed directly against the heating wires.

Because this product connects directly to line voltage and includes GFCI protection, installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable local electrical codes and requirements.

Recommended Applications

The MatComfort 82F is designed specifically for electric floor heating systems installed under laminate and engineered wood flooring. It is suitable for residential areas such as bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, kitchens, and other indoor spaces where electric floor heating is installed beneath temperature-sensitive flooring.

The 82°F floor temperature limit is intended to help protect laminate and engineered wood flooring from excessive floor temperatures. Always follow the flooring manufacturer's specific temperature requirements when installing and operating an electric floor heating system.

Important Installation Information

Review the complete installation and operating instructions before installing or operating the thermostat. Verify the electrical supply, thermostat model, heating load, and floor sensor requirements before installation.

The NTG5110 is rated for a maximum resistive load of 15A or 1,800W at 120VAC. The NTG5220 is rated for a maximum resistive load of 15A or 3,600W at 240VAC.

Because the MatComfort 82F involves line-voltage electrical connections and built-in GFCI protection, installation and electrical testing should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable local electrical codes and requirements.
