Description

Warmup Foil Radiant Floor Heating System 40 Sq Ft (240V)

The Warmup Foil Radiant Floor Heating System 40 Sq Ft is an ultra-thin electric floor heating solution designed for installation beneath floating floor finishes including laminate, engineered wood, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and carpet. Engineered for fast, even heat distribution, this 240V heating system delivers comfortable radiant warmth without significantly increasing floor height, making it an excellent choice for both new construction and renovation projects.

Designed with Warmup's innovative Cut & Turn foil technology, the heating mat installs directly between the insulation underlay and the finished flooring without requiring cement-based adhesives. The aluminum foil construction evenly distributes heat across the floor surface while helping eliminate hot spots for consistent comfort throughout the room.

Ideal for bedrooms, basements, living rooms, home offices, sunrooms, and other dry interior spaces, the Warmup Foil Heating System provides an efficient and reliable way to enjoy the comfort of radiant heated floors under floating floor coverings.

Why Choose Warmup Foil Heating?

Unlike conventional forced-air heating systems that warm the air first, radiant floor heating gently warms the floor surface, creating comfortable, even heat throughout the room. The Warmup Foil system is specifically engineered for floating floors and offers a clean installation with minimal impact on finished floor height.

The reinforced aluminum foil construction spreads heat laterally across the floor surface while the advanced heating cable technology delivers reliable long-term performance. Because the heating element is fully enclosed within the foil assembly, installation is clean, efficient, and well suited for a wide variety of residential flooring projects.

The Warmup Foil Heating System is installed between the insulation underlay and the finished floating floor. Its low-profile design allows it to integrate easily into flooring installations without noticeably increasing finished floor height.

  • Installs beneath floating floors
  • No mortar or cement required
  • Designed for dry interior areas
  • Compatible with breathable underlays
  • Excellent choice for renovation projects

Compatible Floor Coverings

The Warmup Foil system is engineered for use beneath several popular floating floor finishes, making it a versatile solution for many residential applications.

  • Laminate flooring
  • Engineered wood flooring
  • Floating luxury vinyl tile (many LVT products)
  • Carpet installed over suitable underlay

Carpet Installation Guidelines

Radiant floor heating is an excellent option beneath carpet because it provides comfortable warmth without circulating dust the way traditional forced-air heating systems can. Warmup recommends using carpet and underlay materials that allow efficient heat transfer for optimal system performance.

  • Finished carpet thickness should be at least 1/4 inch and no more than 1 inch.
  • The carpet should be hessian backed to improve heat transfer.
  • Use a low thermal resistance underlay.
  • Avoid felt underlay, which may reduce heating performance.
  • Carpet padding should have a density of at least 6 pounds per cubic foot.
  • The carpet R-value should not exceed 1.

Laminate Flooring Recommendations

The Warmup Foil Radiant Floor Heating System is specifically designed for laminate flooring and other floating floor finishes. Dense laminate flooring provides the best thermal conductivity, allowing heat to transfer efficiently from the heating system to the floor surface. Thinner, higher-density flooring materials typically offer faster heat-up times and improved system responsiveness.

The heating element consists of a fiber-reinforced aluminum foil wrapped around a dual-core, multi-strand heating cable insulated with advanced fluoropolymer (ETFE). The foil acts as a continuous grounded layer while evenly distributing heat across the floor for consistent comfort.

  • Choose dense laminate flooring for optimal heat transfer.
  • Recommended wood or laminate thickness is no more than 18 mm.
  • Wider flooring boards may experience more natural movement than narrower boards.
  • The recommended thickness-to-width ratio is approximately 7 to 11.
  • Floor surface temperatures should not exceed 27°C (80.6°F).
  • Always use a compatible floor heating thermostat to regulate floor temperature.

Installation Notes for Laminate Floors

Proper installation is essential for achieving the best performance from your Warmup Foil Heating System. The heating system is installed over the insulation underlay and beneath the finished floating floor, creating an efficient radiant heating solution without the need for cement or self-leveling compounds.

  • Use a breathable underlay between 3 mm and 6 mm thick when required by the flooring manufacturer.
  • Ensure all flooring materials meet the recommended thermal resistance limits.
  • Everything above the heating system, including underlay and flooring, should remain within the specified heat transfer values.
  • Follow all manufacturer installation instructions and local electrical codes.

Heat Transfer Limits

  • Tog: 1.5 (unless otherwise specified)
  • RSI: 0.15 m² K/W (unless otherwise specified)
  • Maximum R-Value (US): 1.42
