Warmup Housing for SIT-6E Snow Melting Sensor
Sensor Not Included
The Warmup housing for the SIT-6E pavement sensor is designed for use with snow melting and deicing systems installed beneath driveways, walkways, ramps, loading areas, and other outdoor heated surfaces. The SIT-6E sensor reliably detects snow and ice conditions on pavement surfaces, allowing the snow melting system to operate only when needed for improved energy efficiency.
The sensor system minimizes unnecessary heater operation while maintaining effective snow and ice melting performance during winter conditions.
A built-in hold-on timer keeps the snow melting system operating for approximately one hour after snowfall stops to help ensure complete surface clearing.
The SIT-6E sensor detects moisture and freezing conditions within a temperature range of -30°F to 38°F. Operation in the 32°F to 38°F temperature range helps reduce unnecessary heater activation and lowers energy consumption.
The SIT-6E accurately measures pavement temperature by compensating for its internal heating, eliminating the need for a separate pavement temperature sensor. For maximum efficiency, the SIT-6E should be mounted close to the snow melting heating cables or mats so the pavement and sensor dry simultaneously.
The mounting system is designed for easy alignment with the pavement surface and includes multiple conduit entry locations for flexible installation. The sensor subassembly is field replaceable without disturbing the pavement surface.
The SIT-6E is classified as an NEC Class 2 low-voltage device, simplifying installation requirements.
Only brass, epoxy, and stainless steel components are exposed to the pavement surface, providing long-term durability and corrosion resistance in outdoor environments.
